How to Hygge your bathroom

What is Hygge?

Hygge (pronounced Hue – gah) is a danish word used to acknowledge a feeling of content or special moment. It can’t buy Hygge, but it can be created.

It’s small moments or feelings of content which make something Hygge and we have a few ideas at our bathroom showroom hampshire for you to create this feeling within your bathroom…

Thomas Leth, Area Sales Manager for Northern European countries and Managing Director at Hansgrohe Denmark says “With a hyggelig bathroom you start off the day happy and end it with a warm feeling of wellbeing—perhaps together with your entire family. It’s the little things that bring coziness to what used to be a very functional and sterile space: natural and homely materials, friendly textiles, and plants and candles convey tranquility and inspire us to return to the simple pleasures of life”

Toasty feet in the morning

Underfloor heating can make a massive impact to your bathroom coziness, just having warm tiles when you get up in the morning can really make you feel so much happier and content. At Innovation Bathroom we can supply and install underfloor heating, it’s not expensive and can make a world of difference.

Neutral soft colours

Neutral colours create a sense of tranquility and calm. Try a lovely wooden floor and add a soft rug. Or how about exposed concrete walls which include artwork or a nice ‘cotton’ coloured painted wall. If you’re not sure on neutral bathrooms, then check out this bathroom completed by Innovation Bathrooms last year. The tiles are neutral yet add a rustic accent. Soft, warm lighting and a spacious layout of the walk in shower creates that Hygge feel.

Warm lighting

Fitting some light dimmers will create atmosphere to the bathroom, so whether it’s an early morning wake up with bright lights to refresh your mind, or low lighting to rewind after a long day. Either way the lighting can make a huge difference and feel. A Hygge moment could be walking into a shower with dimmed lighting, candles and stepping out into a fluffy warm towel. Now that brings us so much happiness!

What about having a waterproof sound system installed, this way you can listen to calming music whilst laying in your bubble bath?

Have you seen these bath trays? They add a sense of luxury to your bathroom, look great, a relaxing feature to your bath time and can be used as storage. Read a nice book and enjoy a Hygge moment, to yourself!
